The Journey by Christopher

Gospel music has been described and influenced by many cultures and styles from church to hip hop and even funk. The new era of spiritual soul, a musical genre in itself, is being introduced by the eccentric sounds of the male trio, Christopher.

Consisting of Christopher McNeal, Christopher Reid and Christopher Surratt, the trio has managed to reflect their raw and uncut perspectives of the Christian journey through their music. Their heart-felt lyrics touch upon real issues that people who love Jesus deal with on a day-to-day basis. Their newest release,
The Journey, has a little something for everyone to appreciate — young and old; saved and unsaved.

The Journey Reviews

Christopher’s music is a refreshing break from the commonplace gospel fare. Their music bridges the gap that exists between praising God inside the church and the reality of leading a Christian life in today’s world. They sing about issues that we all face. And I for one appreciate that. I know they’re not just singing stuff they think the people want to hear. They’ve personalized their lyrics to reflect their walk.”
~ Shawn Harrison, BKA Waldo from Family Matters

“They are a group of great guys who really care about the music and continue to challenge creative limitations. They will help to change the game.”
~ PJ Morton

“Anointed, called, a joy to hear.
Christopher is a fresh voice for this time.”
~ Tracey A. Artis, vice president of Gospel Promotions – Zomba Label Group

“Having known the group Christopher for seven years, I’ve witnessed the ups and downs they’ve encountered and constant ‘comebacks’ they’ve maneuvered, all in a valiant effort to keep their personal agenda aligned with God’s Purpose. Christopher embodies persistent determination, unity and great talent. Their edgy, urban flavor and uncompromising lyrics are relevant and necessary for our generation. Christopher has the music you’ll want to listen to, the personality you’ll want to be close to and the passion that will inspire you!”
~ Michelle S. Duffie, VP/GM of Pure Springs Gospel

“Christopher, Christopher, and Christopher!! Together they perfectly harmonize urban and contemporary melodies with their awesome testimony. Over the years,
Christopher has been diligently spreading the gospel through their music, now the time has come for all to experience and be blessed with their ministry and unique sound!”
~ Star Harris, Gospel Music Channel

“What can I say? Christopher McNeal and I have been friends for some years now and I can honestly say that he is, and has always been, consistent. His passion for music and further knowledge of his craft are definite attributes to his overall character. I admire the boldness of the music that he and the group have chosen to do. Their approach is direct and unapologetic. Not many people can come from that angle and pull it off. They do just that! “Pull it off.” Meaning the cover that so many of us “Christians” try to pull over the public’s eyes. They say things that need to be said. My hat goes off to them. I know everybody has a friend or a relative named Christopher, but not like this.”
~ Eric Dawkins, Dawkins & Dawkins

“The spirit of
Christopher is one of raw soul. They possess a style that is rarely available in the Christian market. Three remarkable young men with remarkable strong voices. Christopher supplies to the demand for male groups — something that has been of great lack since the days of Commissioned and The Winans.”
~ Lisa McClendon

Christopher is the truth. In lyric, performance and ministry, this group offers a very fresh and relevant option to soul-music lovers everywhere. The Midwest has a dynamic new voice found in the trinity of Christopher.”
~ Richard Picart, GospelCity.com

“The essence of
Christopher is integrity, transparency, consistency and maturity. The world will grow and become a better place because these radical brothers have lived through and learned from experiences that you feel in their music. Their sound will be an encounter that will not only allow you to hear their story, but more importantly, feel the intensity of the lessons learned. God has ordained
their connection so that we all might benefit. I love these guys and I’m sure many others will too.”
~ Ted Winn, Ted and Sheri

Christopher is the answer to that one question asked time and time again. ‘Where is the next generation of real men that will stand for God and ministry more than just simple entertainment?’ Where are the men who will stand with the strong sense of identity with no need to turn their backs on their foundation and sound doctrine just to grab the ears of the world? These young men have no problemreaching the world or encouraging the kingdom with their message of hope that is consistent on stage as well as behind close doors...4sho...These brothers are truly everything that they sing, preach and teach. If the world had a chance to hear or experience even a second of what I have experienced with these cats, you’ll know that you’re in the presence of some anointed dudes! With the strong fusion of old church integrity and boldness with a new kingdom mission and vision, these brothers are surely going to storm the world with their new release. I have no doubt that this new record will encourage the souls from the sanctuary to the street corner! Y’all gotta go get that. It’ll bless ya soul!”
~ Izzy

“One of the hottest new groups on the music scene. I am enthralled by the authenticity of their talent. They have the ability to change the focus of ‘faith-based’ music!”
~ Vicki Mack Lataillade, founder of GospoCentric Records and Brite Music

“For a healthy dose of the practical, Christian experience check for
Christopher’s musicality and latest effort, The Journey. While refreshing and relevant, this group’s production and lyrical content speaks to the urban believer and beyond. Their elements of vulnerability and realness can bring anyone to their knees. And with that competitive sound, they represent the hope that only Christ can
give. Listen, and you will be blessed."
~ Tia A. Smith, CEO/Executive Producer/ Director of talentedSOL Productions, LLC.

Comments from Adoring Online Fans

Moment of Truth and Tired; my life in a nutshell! Thank you for giving a sista some hope. I plan on ordering a few more CDs so my friends here in Japan can be blessed by your gift the same way I have been. Thanks again and God bless.

Beyond Good! I saw you all on Bobby Jones Gospel Retreat and listened to the album myself. It is enriched and exceedingly blessed me. Continue to let the anointing lead you to other young people.

Breath Taking!! This CD is absolutely breath taking.

WOW! I LOVE YOU GUYS!! Your style is awesome. Love the old school blended with the new. Very encouraging songs dealing with real life issues and practicality! Keep up the awesome work!

Beautiful Sound! I really enjoy the sound. It touched on some very basic subjects and used a variety of sounds to keep you moving, without taking away from the Word.

AWESOME! MY BOYZ FROM D-TOWN! These are my boyz! I am so glad that GOD has elevated them for such a time as this! Their album is on point! Check out their interviews at gospelcity.com! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Pick this one up!

Soulful, Cutting Edge Style and Clever Lyrics--Just Extraordinary! The Journey captures you and takes you on a ride from the depths of despair in Tired to victory in Club Heaven. Christopher’s lyrics, music and soulful vocal style touch your heart, move your feet and cause yo’ hands to Clap and wave in the air. Club Heaven is my favorite, but there is something for everyone to like on this disc. For praise (Your Presence), quartet (Won’t Stop Praisen), love (I’m in Love Again), forgiveness (She Did Me Wrong), R&B (Yes), I could go on—but you already know that I think The Journey should be added to your music collection.

Top Notch Sound and Quality! I enjoyed the message and sound! I will be looking forward to hearing you live. I am sure it will be awesome. Stay encouraged and blessed.

 L-Marr

Complete ~ Versatile ~ Talented

These three words only begin to describe artist and songwriter—L-Marr—formerly known as L-Marr the Great. With his unique perspective on the world and desire to push music to new heights, L-Marr has evolved into an artist unafraid to take risks. Armed with sharp wit, clever wordplay and a penchant for creating memorable hooks, L-Marr emerges as an innovative lyricist.
Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, L-Marr began writing rhymes and songs at the age of ten after his aunt exposed him to rap music. His desire to express himself through writing became evident when he won several poetry; creative-writing and speech contests as an adolescent. Influenced by the narratives told to him by his uncles and grandparents, as well as his many days in church, L-Marr created songs on his boom box and keyboard. He circulated these songs amongst his friends and classmates, thus garnering respect as an artist.
But it wasn’t until he went to college that he took his craft seriously. His ability to freestyle without effort astounded several peers who encouraged him to pursue music. He recorded songs, pressed CDs and performed for any crowd to spread his message:
“Dream big because you can be anything you want to be as long as you have a plan and a willingness to hustle smarter.”
L-Marr has opened for a host of artists including Monica, Three-6-Mafia, Twista, Nappy Roots and Nick Cannon. After winning several showcases and performing throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan; he moved to Atlanta to be at the pulse of the music industry. This transition put him a step closer to achieving his goal of being a global music icon and change agent for years to come.

L-Marr the Great

For some, music is therapy; a means to heal from pains of the past. For others, music becomes an expression of the creative spirit and love that lives in us all. For a chosen few, music is a call to rebel. For Lamarr Lewis, also known as L-Marr the Great, music is all these things and more.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, L-Marr stood out from his peers. With a passion for writing and performing, the path to Hip-Hop was inevitable. While most of his family listened to Gospel and Soul music, his aunt exposed him to Rap. He was hooked.

Starting at the tender age of ten, L-Marr created and recorded music on his boom box, though never taking his skill too seriously. Friendships formed in high school with a pair of hungry MCs, now known as Definition, inspired him to take his craft to the next level. Performing wherever he could, he entered and won freestyle battles and talent showcases. He evolved into a complete MC. His persistence created a stage presence forged only through practice, repetition and hard work.

While attending college, his perspective on life changed. L-Marr felt his music did not reflect his vision of the world. He read about great thinkers and leaders in history like Malcolm X, Huey P. Newton, Bob Marley, Stokely Carmichael, Frantz Fanon and W.E.B. DuBois. Yet, one book profoundly affected him; The Prince by Machiavelli. This highly controversial book of politics gave instructions on how one should rule his province. Understanding how the form of leadership outlined in Machiavelli's book could be seen as the cause of many of today's ills, L-Marr decided to use The Prince as his moniker.

Already christened L-Marr the Great by a college friend, The Prince was a natural
addition. The alias is a connection to his African roots, broken during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. The Prince not only distinguishes L-Marr from the common rapper, it also reflects his positive application of the information learned from the book. He used Hip-Hop and Soul music as his platform and means to start his movement.
