~ To prepare the students for a successful writing career.
~ To compile a book of collective writings by the students.
~ To give each contributing student at least fifty copies of the printed anthology.
~ To establish creditability as published authors.
~ To reduce the financial burden of an advanced degree by providing students with a scholarship.
~ To offer this program FREE to participating students.
~ Passionate Pens will learn about the art, business and marketing of writing from Valerie Coleman and guest
speakers.
~ The Passionate Pens curriculum includes
* homework
* group interaction
* readings
* manuscript reviews
~ Passionate Pens will attend local writing conferences including
* Write On! Workshops (March)
* Pen To Paper Literary Symposium (October)
~ Passionate Pens may receive a refurbished computer system donated by Pen of the Writer and Computer
GEEKS.
~ Passionate Pens will complete a novella to be edited, compiled, prepped and printed.
~ Passionate Pens will solicit sponsors for donations.
~ Passionate Pens will debut their work at the Author Showcase during the Pen To Paper Literary Symposium
(Friday, October 5, 2007). The book release celebration will be open to the public.
~ As Passionate Pens graduate from high school, they will receive scholarships awarded by Pen of the Writer and
community sponsors. These awards will be paid directly to the college or trade school.
