Valerie L. Coleman has been called to help writers get their books published. Walking in her purpose, she helped to
establish a publishing company for Christian books and plays. She edited manuscripts, handled financial matters,
ensured the accuracy of print specifications and managed book inventory. Coleman has since spread her wings and
established her own company,
Pen Of the WritER or POWER, InfiniPromoter’s 2008 Best Publisher.

Coleman has coached hundreds of aspiring authors through the process of writing and publishing. In addition to one-
on-one consultations, she conducts workshops that provide step-by-step instructions on prepping, printing and
pricing literary works.

Her first compilation,
Blended Families An Anthology, released October 2006 (ISBN-13: 978-0-978-6066-0-2).
Stories from novice writers and published authors from across the nation minister to the unique demands of blended
or stepfamilies. This book has won numerous awards including the
Black Christian Books Distributor’s Top 50 Small-
Independent Publishers Bestsellers (Non-fiction) and Christian Small Publisher’s Association Nonfiction 2008 Book of
the Year. The second Pen of the Writer book project, Tainted Mirror An Anthology (ISBN-13: 978-0-9786066-1-9),
released October 2007. This collection of stories offers hope and healing to overcome the mental, physical and
emotional strongholds that keep us from fulfilling our destiny.

Coleman was a contributing writer for
The Midnight Clear, a Christian fiction anthology published by KNB-
Publications. Her story,
Safe in His Arms, is included with best-selling authors, Kendra Norman-Bellamy and Tia
McCollors. In addition, Coleman writes the
Blended Families column for online magazines, Keeping Family First and
Jubilee Magazine, and the printed publication, Urban Believers Magazine.

With a heart to teach and serve, she founded the
Pen to Paper Literary Symposium in 2004. This annual
conference draws participants from Washington to Florida. Past presenters include national best-selling authors Dan
Poynter, Lynnette Khalfani-Cox, Vickie Stringer, Parry “EbonySatin” Brown and Kendra Norman-Bellamy. In 2005,
Coleman co-founded
Write On! Workshops. These workshops are geared towards the novice writer.

In May 2006, Coleman took her writing and publishing curriculum to the prisons. In addition, she developed a writing
program for high school students. Under her tutelage, students learn the art and business of writing with the
objective of completing a novella. Coleman hopes to incorporate scholarships from accredited institutions as the
pinnacle of the
Passionate Pens program.

Eager to invest in joint collaborations, Coleman is a founding member of the
Soul of the Pen Tour. The objective of
the six Christian authors is to use the written word to develop healthy relationships and strengthen families.
Partnering with Dr. Vivi Monroe Congress, Coleman formed
Queen V Publishing to transform manuscripts into
polished works of art. Her newest venture is as booking manager and business liaison for the gospel trio,
Christopher and promoter of the World Movement Evolution Tour.

Coleman has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute and an
MBA from the University of Dayton. She is a college mathematics instructor. A mother of five, she resides in Dayton,
Ohio with her husband. They worship at
Revival Center Ministries, International.
